The Wine: King

Own grapes, 40-year-old free standing vineyard, in the municipality of Yecla at 650 meters of altitude. Calcareous sandy loam soil with pebbles. Vinification: fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature (15 degrees) without the addition of yeast or sulfur. When it has the appropriate density, it is bottled to generate carbonic inside the bottle and remain for at least one year until disgorging. The waste is filled with the same wine, obtaining a Brut-Nature.

The producer:Bizarría Wines

Bizarría Wines, is a recently created company, whose activity starts from the recovery of vineyards with minority autochthonous varieties of the Region of Murcia. (Forcallat, Moravia, Merseguera). The vineyards are worked in a traditional way, without any type of agrochemicals. The manual harvest is carried out by micro-plots, in 15 kg plastic boxes. Each plot and each varietal is vinified separately. In this way it is possible to produce a total of ten different wines. Already in the winery, the must ferments spontaneously, from autochthonous yeasts. It is not clarified, nor is any oenological product added. The resulting wines are considered natural.

What is natural wine

Natural winemaking has become a movement similar to a revolution, a nemesis of the industrialization and homogenization of wine in the last three decades. Natural wine producers are at the forefront of this movement, rejecting industrial winemaking techniques and the excessive use of pesticides, fungicides, herbicides or fertilizers in the vineyard. Perhaps even more important, natural wine should be viewed as an agricultural product where agriculture is an essential part. Agricultural conditions, labor rights, sustainability and ethical practices throughout the supply chain are now at the center of the natural wine discourse.

Why should I try natural wine?

Natural wine is probably the most fascinating wine on the market. Discovering natural wines is made even more exciting by the fact that each vintage is different and tastes different. The non-interventionist approach to winemaking, together with the best organic and biodynamic practices in the vineyards, give wines of unique character.
