The Wine: Oriental Red

The oriental range goes on sale in order to put on everyone's lips the wine that was made in Baix Montseny for private consumption. They are vineyards outside the commercial circuit that they consider deserve to be shown to the outside world. The Oriental Tinto 2019 comes from a vineyard in Ull de Llebre in Hostalric just off the highway. It comes from super fertile granitic soils that have always been discarded for the cultivation of the vine.

The producer: Els Bardissots

Els Bardissots is a project that was born in 2016 by Pep Pou, Pilar Rosell and Oriol Artigas, in a mountain range located in the north of the Alella territory. The intention is to recognize the wine legacy of the Vallés Oriental Norte or Baix Montseny. The productions are very small and focus on old vineyard plots of 80 and 90 years old, with old varieties, such as the Beier, a red variety that was very typical of the area and that almost no longer is vinified. The three winegrowers met in 2010, in a viticulture course led by Oriol himself. The illusion for wine leads them to do things in common, and without thinking they end up doing one. Throughout the territory, they decide to give voice to the recovered vineyards that have been about to be forgotten. None of the three companions comes from a wine family, they have gotten into this world without knowing it very well at first ... And that's where "Els Bardissots" comes from, a name related to a type of thorny plant growing on the sidelines. Wines that do not want to fit into any commercial framework, but rather be a revaluation of the oenological potential of the Vallés. In the area the climate is always more humid than in the Alella Denomination and with soils almost always very fertile. All the vineyards are worked in a particular way since according to experts, they did not reach the expected quality levels. They are currently acquiring a small warehouse, since the project seems to be taking off well and they begin to need a little more space. So far they have made it at Mas Pelliser, Oriol Artigas' winery.

The Region: Conca de Barberà

La Vall d'Albaida This region, traditionally rainfed, is being altered in the landscape due to the low profitability of the field, and in particular, of rainfed products. Where before there were olive trees, vineyards, almond trees, cereals and carob trees, now, with drip irrigation, we find orange trees, persimmons, pomegranates ... This worries the winery, as well as not being able to live with dignity from the land, and it is For this reason, they set themselves the challenge of creating a small winery to defend their vineyards.

Rates and shipping options

At Bebedistinto we like to be transparent in everything we do. When it comes to buying products online, shipping is the most important aspect, which is why we take great care in shipping and handling orders using only 100% recycled packaging material.

An important premise: wine bottles are heavy (about 1.4 kg each) and shipping is expensive. At Bebedistinto we are proud to be an independent online store, and therefore we must charge shipping on most orders, otherwise we would not be in business. However, we do our best to offer very competitive shipping rates.

What is natural wine

Natural winemaking has become a movement akin to a revolution, a nemesis of the industrialization and homogenization of wine in the last three decades. Natural winemakers are at the forefront of this movement, rejecting industrial winemaking techniques and the excessive use of pesticides, fungicides, herbicides or fertilizers in the vineyard. Perhaps even more importantly, natural wine should be seen as an agricultural product where agriculture is an essential part. Agricultural conditions, labor rights, sustainability and ethical practices throughout the supply chain are now at the center of the natural wine discourse.

Why should you try natural wine?

Natural wine is probably the most fascinating wine on the market. Discovering natural wines is made even more exciting by the fact that each vintage is different and has a different flavor. The non-interventionist winemaking approach, together with the best organic and biodynamic practices in the vineyards, give wines of unique character.
