The Wine: I'm Natural Don't Panic
As the name suggests, I'm Natural Don't Panic # 7 2018 is an excellent example of wine made naturally. This 100% Tempranillo red is powerful, dense and generous, but not devoid of freshness, the result of a high altitude climate that subjects the vines to strong temperature variations. Made with 100% Tempranillo from centenary vines, with very low yields, located in Coruña del Conde at more than 1000 meters above sea level. Maceration for 20 days, alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in tank. Grade 13.5% vol. I'm natural Don't panic are wines with a long maceration, with a lot of body and intensity, along with their freshness.
The producer: Bodegas Coruña del Conde
Bodegas Coruña del Conde is a very sentimental project that was started in 1990 by Alberto López Calvo, who emigrated and worked for almost 40 years in the world of French wine and cooperage in the Bordeaux region. The legacy is now cared for with the same love by his grandson Julien, who is in charge of the 8 hectares of vineyards that the winery has in the same town that gives its name to the winery, at an altitude of 1000 meters.
The Region: Coruña del Conde
Coruña del Conde is a small town of 80 inhabitants at an altitude of 1000 meters, located on the Castilian Plateau, in the province of Burgos, in the autonomous community of Castilla y León, region of Ribera del Duero. A lot of history has passed through here since the Romans, through the Arab invasion in 712. The Cid Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar will travel here on the route of exile in 1080. The Inquisition plays an important and negative role in the development of the population in 1490 and in 1508 an important figure for the history of Latin America was born, the missionary Agustín Gormaz Velasco. At last it is the cradle of aviation, after the feat of the pastor Diego Marín Aguilera in 1793. To this day we can appreciate a few vestiges of these historical periods, such as the medieval castle that dominates the town, its underground galleries, its Roman bridges, the church of San Martín, the hermitage of Santo Cristo de San Sebastián, the door of the old medieval wall, the jurisdictional roll in the center of the square, wrought iron sculptures of Diego Marín Aguilera and El Cid created by Félix Prieto, natural from town. Also a little more than a kilometer away is the Roman city of Clunia, and around our small municipality many towns and places with charm and history, such as Peñaranda de Duero, Caleruega, La Yecla, El Cañón del Río Lobos, the cemetery of Sad Hill from the famous movie "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly", and many more.

What is natural wine
Natural winemaking has become a movement akin to a revolution, a nemesis of the industrialization and homogenization of wine in the last three decades. Natural winemakers are at the forefront of this movement, rejecting industrial winemaking techniques and the excessive use of pesticides, fungicides, herbicides or fertilizers in the vineyard. Perhaps even more importantly, natural wine should be seen as an agricultural product where agriculture is an essential part. Agricultural conditions, labor rights, sustainability and ethical practices throughout the supply chain are now at the center of the natural wine discourse.
Why should you try natural wine?
Natural wine is probably the most fascinating wine on the market. Discovering natural wines is made even more exciting by the fact that each vintage is different and has a different flavor. The non-interventionist winemaking approach, together with the best organic and biodynamic practices in the vineyards, give wines of unique character.
