The Wine: Marco Mono Red
For a few years, the La Vinyeta winery and the Center for the Recovery of Primats, Mona Foundation, have collaborated for the welfare and conservation of primates. This time with Marco, a cherry red wine with a high robe and violet reflections. On the nose it is very aromatic, highlighting red fruit with milky and roasted notes. It is a structured, meaty wine with good acidity and a very good attack with well integrated tannins.
The producer: La Vinyeta
La Vinyeta is a relatively young company - born in 2002 - located in the heart of Alt Empordà, which is dedicated to the exploitation of vine and olive trees. The project starts with the purchase of a couple of old vines - between 55 and 80 years old - of the samsó and garnacha varieties to which new plantations are added up to the current thirty hectares. The construction of the winery and the production of the first wines consolidated the project in 2006, and only three years later it became one of the first wineries to become part of integrated production. The La Vinyeta team has an innovative spirit and they like to share with others both their knowledge and the wild landscape that surrounds them or the spaces they have.
The Region: Mollet de Perelada, Alt Empordà

What is natural wine
Natural winemaking has become a movement similar to a revolution, a nemesis of the industrialization and homogenization of wine in the last three decades. Natural wine producers are at the forefront of this movement, rejecting industrial winemaking techniques and the excessive use of pesticides, fungicides, herbicides or fertilizers in the vineyard. Perhaps even more important, natural wine should be viewed as an agricultural product where agriculture is an essential part. Agricultural conditions, labor rights, sustainability and ethical practices throughout the supply chain are now at the center of the natural wine discourse.
Why should I try natural wine?
Natural wine is probably the most fascinating wine on the market. Discovering natural wines is made even more exciting by the fact that each vintage is different and tastes different. The non-interventionist approach to winemaking, together with the best organic and biodynamic practices in the vineyards, give wines of unique character.
